Cristina’s grandfather was a wedding photographer, so this passion has always been in her DNA. However, her active approach to photography happened in phases. She has always been attracted to painting, drawing, the beauty, and the colors of flowers. She has always loved painting nature with watercolors, but it was only with photography that she got closer to portraiture.
Her artistic vision of life is innate and spontaneous; she has always been the most artistic spirit in her family. Cristina wants to become a skilled photographer and create interesting photographs that stay in the minds of those who look at them. She is particularly interested in portrait photography, especially of women, and wants to give her photos a nuance that evokes the feel of a painting.
The art of the 1500s and 1600s, the light of Caravaggio, the still lifes of Bollongier, the details and brilliance of Botticelli’s skin, the intensity of da Vinci, have always inspired her, and she had the opportunity to study these great artists during her degree in Cultural Heritage. Her photography is constantly evolving; her mind is always in motion. Over time, she has learned the importance of light as a fundamental element of a photograph, which, if used correctly, helps frame and enhance each subject.
Her goal for the next few years is to give editorial photography an artistic, almost pictorial touch. Instagram constantly offers us images, photos, millions of photos, and finding something truly interesting in this universe of data is a great challenge. It is not the economy that moves the world, but art, and it is the artist’s task to describe the world in a way that can be understood and remembered, even centuries later.
Which of her photographic works does she like the most? The one she has yet to shoot.
